According to tradition, church owes its name to wooden statue of St. Nicholas fished at sea and still visible inside. It has three naves separated by pillars and characterized by stucco decorations made in the eighteenth century by local craftsmen. Along the aisles there are many chapels, including that of St. Erasmus, traditionally fishermen relevance, and that of St. Augustine. Of some interest are Annunciation canvas (XVIII century) and the one depicting Virgin and St. Caterina and St. Domenico (1665). In the apse is the eighteenth-century wooden choir.
