Rocca di Botte is a comune and town in the province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, central Italy. References Rocca di Botte is an Italian town of 910 people in the province of L'Aquila in the Abruzzo region. It is part of the mountain community Marsica 1. During the Middle Ages the town was known as Rocca de Bucte according to some documents dating back to the twelfth century. Rocca di Botte suffered a serious outbreak of plague in the seventeenth century, which caused a sharp depopulation. In 1496 the country became a fief of the important Roman family of the Colonna thanks to the donation made to this dynasty by Ferdinand II of Naples.
