Chiesa Matrice di San Zaccaria

The building has been renovated several times until the last speech, after the earthquake of 1905. The bell tower, the main facade and the choir were completely rebuilt and the building was reinforced with a concrete steel, according to seismic technical of the time. The statue of St. Zaccaria, patron of parish and city, is work by Giuseppe Stuflesser, carved on wooden in 2005 and donated by Ricadi Municipality. The altar is work by Reginaldo D'Agostino, sculptor and painter of Spilinga, to whom we owe the great fresco on the choir. The rod at the top of the triumph, with the image of St. Zaccaria, is work by Giuseppe Pontoriero Luzzaro who, along with D'Agostino, has also created the panel under the ciborium. Ciborium temple of polychrome marble and holy water source are of eighteenth century. Barrel vault is decorated with stucco. Positive organ by Raphael De Rosa (1822) is fully restored and running. Are kept inside the church: a bell dated 1651, a Baby Jesus carved in wood (eighteenth century), a pedal harmonium (first half of the twentieth century) and a gilded wooden reliquary of the eighteenth century, with relic of Holy Cross set in a rock crystal within a silver casket.
