The museum was founded in 1992 and set inside Piccolomini Castle. It contains very precious sacred art-works and sculptures, connected to the elegant and renowned liturgical art production which distinguished the area of the Marsica between the VI and the XVII century. Among the several valuable objects on display, there is a huge number of stone finds, dated between the VI and the XII century, and of the wood shutters. Moreover, the collection contains remarkable paintings and sculptures, dated between the XII and the XVIII century; the precious gold ware dates between the XIII and the XVII century, while the mottled sacred arrays refer mostly to the XV and the XIX century.
