In this context, the archaeological area is also a haven unexpected in terms of natural, thanks to the presence of wetlands and lush vegetation. The extension of the ancient city can be calculated at around 65 hectares for the period following the construction of the wall circuit, during the fifth century. The area in state property (32 hectares) includes only a part of the ancient city of Port being the hexagon and around the suburbs still in private ownership.
