Sorianello

Sorianello is part of Serre Vibonesi. According to some scholars, its origins date back to the age of Goths, its current toponym is a diminutive of the name of adjoining center, Soriano Calabro, was a possession of Carafa di Nocera family and subsequently entered the properties of Monastery of San Domenico di Soriano. As evidence of the many barbarian invasions, City Walls around historic center, still visible today. The structure built on the remains of feudal castle houses inside a small Parish Museum, where oil paintings of the eighteenth-century Neapolitan school and other works of art belonging to the churches are preserved. In Church of Santa Maria del Soccorso it is possible to admire Baroque high altar, in polychrome marble, from the destroyed church of San Domenico in Soriano. Nearby, we recommend the tour of "Mills valley", a Park with water mills inherited from ancient times that were used for processing cereals, now refurbished. In the park there is an artificial lake fed by the river Cornacchia, which crosses the valley, the ruins of ancient settlements of Basilian monks, Church of San Bruno, with an olive tree next to it where it is believed that the Saint has stopped. Museum of Peasant Civilization, created in 1995, is located inside Imeneo-Florenzano Palace.
