Val di Chiana (Valdichiana)
Val di Chiana is between the provinces of Arezzo and Siena, in Tuscany, and between Perugia and Terni, in Umbria, for a total of 23 municipalities (Val di Chiana aretina, senese and romana). Val di Chiana is at the center of a historical-artistic and wine-making interest that makes it one of the most favorite tourist destinations. The villages of Castiglion Fiorentino, Lucignano, Montefollonico (in the town of Torrita di Siena), Montepulciano, Trequanda, Città della Pieve and San Casciano have been awarded "Orange Flag" by Italian Touring Club. However, tourism is also projected towards the countryside: there are more and more tourists who choose to spend a hiked weekend on hiking and horse trekking and bike tours. It is inevitable to stop in the farmhouses that, in addition to the tasting of famous Chianina steak and good wine, offer educational, sports, cultural or recreational activities aimed at discovering the specifics of the area (food, history, crafts, nature, art, archeology).
