Ponte della Costituzione

Where Fondamenta Santa Chiara, 520a, Venezia

In 1997, the famous architect, sculptor and engineer Santiago Calatrava gave to the city of Venice an executive project for a fourth Bridge over the Grand Canal, which was linking the area of arrival in Venice, Piazzale Roma and the Train Station area of St. Lucy. Work highly controversial for costs and jobs, the Bridge was opened to pedestrian traffic in 2008, with its current name. The Bridge has arched shape, with a span of 81 meters, a width at the center of nine meters and a maximum of ten. The structure is steel, with glass floors, Istrian stone and gray trachyte from Montemerlo. Even the railings are made of glass, with a brass banister. Within the handrails are installed LED bulbs.
