Situated in the Fontego dei Turchi, on the Grand Canal, this important scientific institution hosts numerous collections and a notable library; monitoring activities and research into the lagoon of Venice and its fauna are also carried out there.
After the total restoration carried out over the last few years, which led to the reorganisation and updating of the museum system, and after the complete restoration of the collections, the Natural History Museum is open to the public with a new and fascinating exhibition layout throughout eleven rooms on the second floor, new reception areas on the ground floor and a garden reclaimed for the museum and the city. It presents a museological approach and a museological system, both of them modern and original, and further expansion programmes.
