Palazzo Querini Stampalia

Querini Stampalia Palace was built in the sixteenth century. Enriched over the centuries with embellishments and restorations. Around 1700, it was built the bridge that connected the Palace to the St. Mary Formosa's Church. Between 1789 and 1797, the Palace was raised a plan. At his death, the Count ordered that all his belongings were donated to the city of Venice: Palace, furnishings, paintings and rich library, became the headquarters of the Foundation which he established in 1868. In 1949, the Foundation decided to entrust to architect Carlo Scarpa restoration of the Palace, maintaining the traditional style: the facade is characterized by two mullioned with balconies. Jacopo Palma the Older was commissioned to finish the "Golden Room", in which was a marble fireplace finely decorated with the family crest.
