Duomo dei Santi Maria e Donato
Where
Campo San Donato, 8, Venezia
Murano, town of the Venetian Lagoon (Venice), homes the the seventh century Saints Mary and Donato's Cathedral. The current appearance is the result of subsequent renovations: the plant has three naves that converge in the central apse, the most important part of the building, with a remarkable mosaic of "Our Lady Orans" in the basin, work by a Byzantine master of the twelfth century, and frescoes by Giotto School. Of great importance it is the mosaic floor, perhaps contemporaneous with that of the St. Mark's Basilica in Venice. The facade tends to respect the forms of Ravenna.
