Palazzo del Cinema is the venue for Venice Film Festival, in Lido of Venice island. The need for new spaces and the desire to reorganize the entire area has led the Venice Biennale Foundation to open a design competition for a new Palazzo del Cinema in 2004 and for the adjoining areas, in collaboration with French architect Rudy Ricciotti.
