Freedom Bridge is the only bridge, road and rail, about four kilometers long, linking the historic center of Venice with the mainland. It was inaugurated in 1846 on the project by engineers Noale and Berman, assisted by Petich and Pietro Modulo. At the time of its construction, it was the longest Bridge in the world. In 1931, the draft by Eugenio Mozzi beside the railway line the road, with modifications and alterations. Opened in 1933, under the name of "Littorio Bridge", at the end of the Second World War it was renamed to the current name. It consists of two lanes in each direction, flanked by two wide sidewalks with function also of the bike path. The roadway is also home to the rails of the tramway Venezia-Mestre.
