Murano

Where Calle Santo Stefano, 20, Venezia

Murano is a town in the Venetian Lagoon, made up of seven islands, located along the Marani's Canal, connected by bridges. The center is known throughout the world for the centuries-old art of glass. The history of Murano Glass was founded in 1291, when it ruled that the glassworks in Venice, already active before Mille, were transferred because often responsible for disastrous fires. Concentrating them in Murano, also served to preserve and keep secret the activity that made Venice famous worldwide. On the Island there are three churches working: Saints Mary and Donato, St. Peter Martyr and St. Mary of Angels, while they are still visible remains of the St. Clear's Church, St. Maffio and St. Stephan, to which is added the Oratory of Saints Joseph and Teresa, with adjoining Briati Hospice.
