Mestre

Where Piazza Ventisette Ottobre, Venezia

Mestre is part of municipality of Venice. Piazza Ferretto is the main city square, on it overlooking the eighteenth-century St. Lowrence's Cathedral, Palace of King, whose portico housed the grain market and Clock Tower, commonly known as Civic Tower, the only one left of the three main towers of Castle of Mestre. Between 1995 and 1998 Piazza Ferretto was redesigned by architect Guido Zordan. For its proximity to Venice, Mestre area is full of elegant villas and palaces that preserve typical structure of "Venetian gardens". Of interest they are also the blockhouses, which constituted the entrenched camp of Mestre, made during the nineteenth century and early twentieth century.
