Cappella della Pia congregazione dei banchieri, negozianti e mercanti

Where VIA GARIBALDI, 25, Torino

The chapel was opened in 1692 to provide the "Pious Congregation of Bankers, Merchants and Traders of Turin" (association established in 1662) and a meeting place of prayer. Its creation came about thanks to the direct involvement of the rector of the Jesuits, Father Agostino Provana (1641-1726).

The interior consists of a rectangular room covered by a vault frescoed by the painter Stefano Maria Legnani (called the Legnanino, 1661-1713) focused on the themes "Salvation History" sections of the Old and New Testament. The walls are decorated with twelve large paintings depicting scenes from the Glorification of the Epiphany and are mostly the work of Andrea Pozzo and his workshop.

In 1769 the building was renovated by Bernardo Antonio Vittone, who designed the new facade.

In the sacristy are preserved altarpiece, already on the altar of the chapel of the early congregation, depicting the Adoration of the Magi by Moncalvo, and an ingenious mechanical timetable universal (since the Common Era to 4000), built to a design by Director of the Astronomical Observatory of Torino Giovanni Amedeo Plana in 1835 c. and decorated with a complex iconography in print.
