Luogo - Park

Parco Naturale Regionale delle Dolomiti d'Ampezzo

Where Roma

Park was officially established in 1990. Its territory includes famous crystal groups of Cristallo, Tofane, Fanes peak, Col Bechei and Croda Rossa d'Ampezzo, respectively divided by Val Travenanzes, Val di Fanes, upper Valle del Boite and Val Felizon. The valleys are narrow and recessed towards the common confluence, where the main entrance of Park is located, and open up into vast plateaus to pasture towards the highest altitudes. At high altitudes and sunny you can come across beautiful specimens of Red Lily, Genziana delle Nevi, Rosa delle Alpi and classic Stella Alpina. The fauna is incredibly diversified because of the great variety of habitats (aquatic, rocky, wooded and prairie). Inside the Park area there are the ruins of Botestagno Castle, ancient Medieval fort used between the 11th and 18th centuries, freely visited by the public. There are four itineraries within the Park: Ciampo de Crosc, Malga Ra Stua, Rocca di Podestagno - Forra del rio Felizon and Tofana di Rozes.
