In the Gallery - located on the third floor of the building Carpegna - is exposed part of academic collections.

Other works are placed in academic halls, the offices of the Secretariat, in the Board Room, located on the main floor, as well as in the Academic Library, the Library and Archives Historical Sarti which are located on the second floor.

The remainder of the collection is stored in a warehouse is located on the ground floor or along the spiral ramp.

 

In October 2010, the gallery was renovated according to a museological exhibition project developed by Angela Cipriani, Marisa Dalai Emiliani, Pia Vivarelli (died in 2008) as Stewards at the Gallery and Collections Academic, reopened to the public in almost all of its rooms.

The new layout has been designed, in collaboration with the Academic architect Francesco Cellini, following the latest criteria, ie using the same order of presentation immediate and effective action to return the very idea of ​​the Academy over the centuries.

The restoration of works of painting and sculpture, made necessary by the long-term storage of past works, curated by Fabio Porzio, was joined the now usual laboratory research on methods of restoration, also directed by Fabio Porzio, particularly interesting for the variety of materials and therefore the wealth of related issues. It has also carried out a re-reading of archival documents in order to reconstruct the texture of the historical and current academic collections.
