Eburnea Gate (or Arch of Mandorla), is one of the ancient gates of the Etruscan walls of Perugia. The origin of the name is due to the fact that once, nearby, there was a temple dedicated to the god Vertumnus, coated with precious source elephantine material. The Gate has been changed in the fourteenth century and today appears in its Medieval form with the pointed arch and the characteristic joints protruding. The original structure remained a lion head and a few letters that probably formed a Latin inscription. The popular tradition indicates this site as particularly favorable, so that the Baglioni family, the first of their military expeditions, they never failed to pass under this arch.
