Parco Letterario “Corrado Alvaro”
It’s one of the Literary Parks designed by Stanislao Nievo, great-grandson of the great nineteenth-century writer Ippolito Nievo, made under the auspices of the UNESCO. The Literary Park "Corrado Alvaro" was created with the intent to promote the places described in the works of the great Calabria writer and journalist, creating on them interest and cultural tourism. Starting from the birthplace of Alvaro, the current headquarters of the Foundation dedicated to him, it can visit the small historic center of St. Luke: the Mother Church of St. Mary of the Pity; the remains of the Stranges Palace, quoted in "People in Aspromonte" and "The Man in the Maze"; and the Loggia of the Chest. Continuing along the Buonamico torrent, it reach the remains of the village of Potamìa, quoted in "The black horse", abandoned in the sixteenth century, and go into the heart of the Aspromonte, to the Shrine of Our Lady of Polsi, to which the writer dedicated his debut opera (1912). From St. Luke is also possible to follow a series of pathways for trekking, as the "Trail of English", revived on the basis of the descriptions of Edward Lear in 1847.
