Vomero

Where vomero, Napoli

Vomero is one of the hilly neighborhoods of Naples, inhabited by Neapolitan bourgeoisie. The highest point of the neighborhood is Certosa di San Martino. From the first moment Vomero was conceived as a residential district: splendid villas and buildings in late-Liberty style that were made in large numbers at the beginning of the century around Villa Floridiana and towards the area of Castel Sant'Elmo and San Martino up until the mid-twentieth century, the distinctive feature of new district. Many are still examples of original architecture that constitute a heritage for all Italian architecture: historical buildings, such as, for example, Villa del Pontano, Villa Belvedere, Villa Regina, Villa Lucia, Villa Haas, Villa Presenzano or Diaz, Villa Ricciardi, Villa Leonetti, Villa Salve and an ancient building of Bourbon area, in Antignano district.
