Baroque Obelisk located in Piazza del Gesù Nuovo, was erected in the mid-eighteenth century by order of the Jesuit Francesco Pepe, designed by Giuseppe Genoino. The work, 30 meters high, is reminiscent of old "party machines" and is lined with marble decorations that make it one of the best examples of Baroque sculpture in the city. Sculptural elements were produced by Matteo Bottiglieri and Francesco Pagano.
