The Conservatory of Naples, born in 1807, is headquartered in the fourteenth century Monastery of St. Peter Majella, where is hosted the Historical Museum of Music. Among the works, the famous Stardivari's harp; paintings and sculptures of famous composers (works by Palizzi, Altamura, Morelli, Vernet and Jerace); memorabilia to Pergolesi, Cimarosa, Bellini and other protagonists of the great Neapolitan School of music, but also to international figures such as Liszt and Wagner. The Museum exposes instruments by prestigious Neapolitan school of violin making, wind instruments, guitar picks inlaid in mother of pearl, and precious keyboards: the fortepiano, the harpsichord by Catherine II of Russia, the Mercadante and Thalberg pianos.
