The Museum was established in 1988 by the centenary of the founding of the Association “Artistic Circle Polytechnic" where the collection is kept. The Institute is located on the 2nd floor of the historic Palazzo Zapata and is representative of the Neapolitan style of painting of the “Nineteenth Century ". The entire collection has been assembled over the 123 years of the social activities of the Association. This association was founded in 1888, in the home of Edward Dalbono by professionals from the era of great painters and is known as the "society of artists". The first chairman was Prince Joseph Sirignano Caravita to which the museum is dedicated. The Association was also the site of the first School of Dramatic Arts in Naples and the Neapolitan prestigious Academy of Chess. The Museum is the result of the donation of members whose "legacy" now allows the public to be an eyewitness to the centuries the most flourishing city of Naples. Most striking is the Art Nouveau room designed by architect G. B. Comencini in 1912. The halls are filled with preserved paintings and sculptures ranging from the end of the 800’s to the second half of the 900’s. The Institution also owns a valuable collection of books, documentaries and photography.
