Luogo - Religious building

Chiesa di Sant'Orsola a Chiaia

Where Via Chiaia, Napoli

The current building was originally a small chapel, built in the mid-sixteenth century by the Spanish nobleman Hannibal de Troyanis y Mortella and dedicated to St. Ursula. In 1850, the Church was remodeled: the monastery that housed the monks' cemetery was demolished and in its place was built the Sannazaro Theatre. The building, although it lost much of its original value, has valuable nineteenth century frescoes on the arches of the nave and vault, executed by G. Gravante.
