Stazione di Napoli Mergellina

Where Corso Vittorio Emanuele, 2-6, Napoli

The Station, originally called "Chiaia", entered service on September 20, 1925, with the activation of the railway  Pozzuoli Solfatara-Naples (the so-called "underground"). In 1927 it changed its name to "Napoli Mergellina". The passenger building is one of the most beautiful buildings in Naples: the exterior is characterized by the presence of stucco, protruding pillars and columns, the ground floor is decorated with a rusticated. Two side arches, richly decorated, correspond to the two main entrances, and the center is home to a clock supported by angels in stucco. Of great value the cantilever roof cast iron. The interior consists of two rooms, arrivals and departures, covered by a barrel vault with Art Nouveau decorations and glass block.
