Museo della Permanente

Where Via Turati, 34, Milano

The "Permanent" was born in 1883 from the merger of two previous companies, the "Society for Fine Arts" and the "Society for the Permanent Exhibition of Fine Arts in Milan", aimed to focus attention on artistically significant periods of the past and contemporary art, and the experiences of individual protagonists, organizing regular exhibitions, personal and cultural exchanges. The project for the construction of the Palace was entrusted to Luca Beltrami (Milan 1854 - Rome 1933): the building, with two floors, is in Neoclassical style, with facade in red stone of Verona and a triple opening input. In 1943 the building was bombed; reopened to the public ten years later, it has large rooms for large installations. The collection "Permanent" consists of more than three hundred works, including paintings and sculptures, and about one hundred drawings and engravings.
