Museo civico di storia naturale di Milano

Where Corso Venezia, 55, Milano

The Museum was founded in 1893 and is one of the most important natural history museums in Europe. It's located in a neo-Gothic building designed by Giovanni Ceruti within the Public Gardens of Porta Venezia. In the 40s a fire damaged the building that was rebuilt according to the original plan, from Egiziano Nichelli. In 2013 the facades have been completely restored. The Museum is divided into 23 rooms, on two floors, and is home to about three million pieces and a hundred dioramas. The sections range from mineralogy to palaeontology, from plants to the natural history of man, from zoology to reproduction of natural environments. The adjoining library is open to the public and has about 150,000 volumes.
