Museo della Cattedrale di Lucca

Where PIAZZA ANTELMINELLI, 5, Lucca

The Cathedral Museum was created in 1992 to house the furniture made since the high Middle Ages for the performance of solemn liturgical functions of the Cathedral for both sculptures and paintings that, removed from the original location for reasons of conservation or replaced by authors latest, lying, poor access to view, in warehouses or in the sacristy. The distribution of the works, within the architectural complex that houses the museum, follows a chronological order to allow the visitor to perceive globally the artistic taste of the ages represented, except for the room dedicated to the codes and illuminated choir books, collected in a single environment to better control the sources of illumination.
