Via del Campo

Where Via del Campo, 60, Genova

Via del Campo is a paved road that crosses the alleyways of the old town of Genoa. Known for being sung by Fabrizio De André in one of his most representative songs, "Via del Campo", in fact. Formerly the smuggling and renowned "brothels", today has already lost some of its old "sinful" charm, while being a typical tourist place and necessary step between the waterfront of the old harbor, recently renovated by Renzo Piano, and the adjacent Via Pré, ending in the Romanesque complex of St. John Commandery Pré. In Via del Campo is the record store Gianni Tassio, a great friend of Fabrizio De André, who attended as a young man the shop.
