The exhibition consists of about four hundred European and non-European instruments from the seventeenth to the twentieth century from various collections, including that of Cosimo and Ferdinand de 'Medici, Lorena, Ferdinand Casamorata and Alexander Kraus, to which were added the many gifts, especially on the part of Victor-Charles Mahillon (1841-1924), a manufacturer of wind instruments and director of the Museum of Musical Instruments in Brussels, and the Countess Edith Rucellai, as well as numerous musicians.
