UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2006, the building is the seat of the Municipality of Genoa and is part of the city's Museum Complex. The large loggias facing the street were added in 1597, when Palace became the property of Giovanni Andrea Doria, who acquired it for his cadet son Duca di Tursi, to whom we owe current name. The facade is characterized by the alternation of different materials: pink stone from Finale, slate and Carrara marble, on two superimposed orders. Marble portal is crowned by Genoa's emblem. The interior is divided into an atrium, a staircase, a raised rectangular courtyard and a double flight of steps that creates marvelous play of light and perspectives. The palace is the culmination of Genoese residential splendor, as evidenced by internal decorations and paintings of Salone di Rappresentanza. The building, connected to adjacent Palazzo Bianco, houses the last rooms of Gallery of the museum, with Genoese painting of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Maddalena Penitente by Antonio Canova, numismatic collection and that of ceramics. Guarneri Del Gesù violin called "il Cannone", belonging to Niccolò Paganini, is kept in Paganini Room.
