The complex, located in the historic Cosenza, is commonly called "Reform" because the eighteenth century was the convent of the Reformed Friars, one of the many Franciscan families, who promoted devotion to the statue of the SS. Crucified. Such devotion was increased by the Capuchin Friars. The Church of the Reformation become heritage of the "Friars of the people" on 1 January 1915. On 3 September 1943, bombing planes hit massively Church and former convent that, as a result of fire bombs, saw completely destroyed, as well as important archive documents even many valuable works of art: the original handmade coffered vault, the main altar in gold, a precious eighteenth-century crucifix and eight paintings by the Flemish Guglielmo Borremans (1704). The new construction was entrusted to Cosentino Salvatore Giuliani. Today, the Church has two aisles and a central nave. In the right aisle we find an altar dedicated to St. Rita, depicted in a fresco by Septimius Tancredi (1958), followed by successive altars always topped by canvas. Down the aisle, the statue of St. Francis of Assisi, Our Lady of Sorrows, St. Anthony of Padua (nineteenth century). On the main altar stands a crucifix of the late sixteenth century, it considered miraculous as having survived to the fire. The vestry has another century crucifix, wooden cabinets with carved floral motifs and processional banners. In the left aisle: fragment of a statue of a member of the Firrao family; several altars with important paintings, including a valuable painting by Giuseppe Pascaletti from Fiumefreddo Bruzio depicting St. Peter of Alcantara. The chapels are topped by arches in tuff of the primitive church. On a stone baptismal font, it is placed a large carved panel depicting scenes from the life of Jesus, by the sculptor Philip (1975).
