Where Piazza Toscano, Cosenza

The National Library is located in Toscano Square. Founded as a separate section of the National Library of Naples (1978), began his career in 1985, with the granting of use of the new building of the seminary of Cosenza. Thanks to the excavations carried out by the Archaeological Superintendence of Calabria, the basement of the National Library (former seminary) showed the remains of the Brettia metropolis from the fourth century BC and a complex stratigraphy to the present day, with the discovery of Fifteenth pottery and ceramics, in continuity with the archaeological area of the adjacent Toscano Square. The halls of the library who guard the archaeological sites have been restored by Roberto Gallo and Vincenzo Divoto.
