Chiesa di San Costantino

Where Via San Costantino, Capri Leone (Messina)

St. Constantine's Church is a religious building site in the center of the village overlooking the main square. Its origins date back to the sixteenth century. The plant has a single nave with two side chapels. Among the works of art housed within it it is to be counted, besides the statues of Owner St. Constantine, an eighteenth-century crucifix, a statue (eighteenth-century work by Antonino Barcelona), and two paintings depicting Virgin Mary and Deposition of Christ (works by Mario Ruggeri). But the masterpiece that stands out among all the works of art is monumental altarpiece of seventeenth-century altar depicting Baptism of Constantine, operates doubtfully attributed to the painter Giuseppe Tomasi from Tortorici.
