Civic Margherita Theatre was inaugurated in 1875 and named after Queen Margherita of Savoy, who in 1881 was on an official visit in Caltanissetta. Particularly active until the Second World War, helped to flourish a cultural ferment thanks to a growing representations of the caliber of "Turandot" and "Macbeth" by Verdi. Following the destruction of war and neglect, in the seventies it was closed. After long and careful restoration, in 1997 the property was reopened to the public.
