It stands on a high rocky promontory from which dominates the town of Brusson and much of Val d'Ayas, in very strategic position. Graines is a typical example of primitive castle of Aosta Valley, consisting mainly of large irregularly shaped walls to fit the nature of the soil, which contained inside other buildings. Square tower, or "donjon", was the keep of Castle, originally crenellated and free of visible coverage. Romanesque chapel inside is dedicated to St. Martin. According to a legend under the ruins of Castle it is buried a great treasure.
