Monumento alla Vittoria

Where Piazza della Vittoria, Bolzano (Bolzano/Bozen)

Victory Monument is a commemorative marble complex on Austria-Hungary Italian victory during the First World War, designed by Marcello Piacentini behest of Benito Mussolini, was built between 1926 and 1928. According to English historian John Foot, Monument represents nationalist and fascist vision of the war and the past, based on the heroism, sacrifice, "beautiful death" and "who died for their homeland" as opposed to the ideals of pacifism and socialism. In 2014 was set up a permanent exhibition trail entitled "BZ '18 -'45: a monument, a city, two dictatorships".
