Castel Mareccio

Where Via Claudia de' Medici, Bolzano (Bolzano/Bozen)

In historic center, it consists of a more ancient nucleus, the main tower, built by Berthold von Bozen in 1194. A more substantial extension was sought by Römer family in half of the sixteenth century, with the additions of other four towers and frescoes in Sala dei Cavalieri, in the towers and chapel, as well as the surrounding moat with the bridge. On a wall of Mareccio Castle is "Sator", symbol of Roman Empire. Castel today is primarily a convention center, but can also be visited by prior arrangement.
