GAMeC - Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Bergamo was inaugurated in 1991 and is an important center of art. Located in the former Monastery of Dimesse and Serve, a building of the fifteenth century recently restored. The Gallery aims to enhance, improve and promote the works of the Accademia Carrara, through national and international activities and events to promote culture and art. The permanent collection consists of three main parts: the "Collection Spajani", about forty masterpieces of modern art (Balla, Boccioni, De Chirico, Kandinsky, Morandi); the "Manzù Collection", donated by the sculptor to the city of Bergamo, which includes sculptures, paintings, drawings and engravings; the "Collection Stucchi", twenty European paintings of the 50s and 60s, with particular reference to the Informal Art. To these sections are added works by Sironi and various contemporary artists, in addition to the "Collection of contemporary medals", donated by Vittorio Lorioli; the Fund from the Archives "Nino Zucchelli"; the Photography Collection "Finazzi" (in storage) and the "Photographic Collection Lanfranco Colombo." The Gallery also offers an educational service for adults and children.
