Where Zona Monte - via Antica Romana Iulia Augusta, Albenga (Savona)

The route between the ancient St. Martin and St. Crux's churches in Albenga and Alassio is one of the most beautiful and best preserved of the ancient Via Julia Augusta, the road opened by Emperor Augustus between 13 and 12 BC to connect, via coastal route, the Po Valley with Gaul and Spain. Along the ancient road overlooking the ruins of at least seven buildings of the imperial Roman era, dating from the first and second century AD: five of them are interpretable as tombs: one columbarium, other family graves.
