Cilento National Park, Vallo di Diano and Alburni was established in 1991, while in 1998 it was a UNESCO World Heritage Site (with archaeological sites of Paestum and Velia and Certosa di Padula). Protected natural area extends for about 181.048 hectares, between the province of Salerno, Piana del Sele, Basilicata and Tyrrhenian Sea, for a total of 80 Municipalities. Approximately 1,800 plant species have been surveyed in the park, one of which is of Community Interest, Primula di Palinuro, and 25 habitats. Of particular interest is the vegetation of coastal cliffs, between Palinuro and Montecorice. Countless monumental archaeological areas, first of all those of Paestum and Velia, next to historical villages and museums of the territory.
